For senior and disabled Middle Tennesseans needing a ride to a medical appointment, there are several options available.
Depending on where you live, there are a variety of services available to help you arrive at your medical appointments. For many of these services advance notice and an application are required.
I need a ride to an appointment in Nashville
Senior Ride Nashville offers affordable transportation options for seniors through the efforts of volunteer drivers within the community. This service is available to those who are 60 or older, in need of transportation and who can safely transfer in and out of a vehicle with limited and have the cognitive capacity to safely use the program. Senior Rider Nashville services populations in West Nashville, Madison, Old Hickory, Donelson, Hermitage and East Nashville communities. Annual membership into the program is $25 and each round-trip cost $6. Initial registration into the program costs $49, which includes the annual fee and your first four rides. WeGo Access is a publicly funded paratransit service that offers specialized vans for people with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed-route transit services. Door-to-door service is available within Davidson County with a 24-hour advance reservation. Passengers unable to navigate Access services independently must travel with a personal care attendant (PCA). Eligible riders can schedule an Access ride for any reason, including medical appointments.

I need a ride to an appointment outside of Davidson County.
Mid-Cumberland Public Transit offers flexible curb to curb transportation for those living in Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson. MCHRA does not service Davidson County. 24-to-72-hour advance notice is requested when scheduling a trip, depending on the distance traveled. For those who need assistance during transport a Personal Care Attendant is welcome without the cost of additional fare.
For riders with disabilities Mid-Cumberland Public Transit works to provide reasonable modifications to allow for equal opportunities for transit accessibility, as dictated by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What other organizations offer transportation services?
- TennCare offer Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) to individuals on Medicaid who need a ride to their medical appointments. Transportation is covered so long as the appointment is TennCare covered. Rides must be scheduled with 72-hours notice and are scheduled through your TennCare provider.
- The American Cancer Society provide transportation to and from treatment appointments for people with cancer who would otherwise be unable to attend. These rides are entirely volunteer operated and only cancer-related medical appointments for eligible for these rides. Rides can take several business days to coordinate and may have additional requirements based on an individual’s unique circumstance. Schedule a ride by calling 1-800-227-2345. - The Tennessee Kidney Foundation offer financial assistance to patients with end stage renal disease so that they can access transportation to their healthcare services. Transportation assistance includes, but is not limited to: AccessRide Tickets, bus passes, fuel cards, tickets for regional transit providers and private door-to-door transportation providers. Veterans Transportation Service
For veterans who are visually impaired, elderly, or immobilized due to disease or disability, the Veterans Transportation Service ensures that individuals can access their VA-authorized appointments. Veterans living in Middle Tennessee can visit VetRide to learn more about how to schedule an appointment using the Self-Service Portal and to find a service center nearest to them.
