What is paratransit and is it an option for me?

General information about paratransit options in Middle Tennessee.

Paratransit services offer individual rides for those who cannot access fixed route mass transit, such as a city bus, often due to physical limitations or disabilities. Most paratransit vehicles are specifically designed for wheelchair access and offer door to door services at affordable rates. Those who want to use Paratransit services must complete an application to show that they are eligible. Advance reservations are typically required.

  • WeGo Access is a publicly funded paratransit service for those living in Davidson County. Eligible riders can schedule an Access ride for any reason, such as to go shopping, visit family, or to make appointments. To use Access, individuals must first be certified eligible by completing the Access Application. Certification requires the completion of the application, documentation from a physician, and an in-person interview. One-way Access trips cost $3.70, which is collected at each boarding.   • Clarksville Transit System (CTS) paratransit services are provided by “The Lift” to qualified disabled and elderly passengers who complete a paratransit application. Rides must be scheduled a day in advance. CTS services are available Monday through Saturday from 4:30am to 9:00pm. Paratransit rides through CTS cost $2.50 per ride and can be scheduled by using the online portal or by calling (931)553-2470.
  • Mid-Cumberland Public Transit offers flexible curb-to-curb transportation for those living in the Greater Nashville region outside of Davidson County (Nashville). Rides are first call, first served, with medical appointments given priority. Riders should give 24-to-72-hour advance notice when scheduling a trip, depending on the distance traveled. For those who need the assistance of another person, a Personal Care Attendant is welcome to accompany any rider without additional cost. For riders with disabilities, Mid-Cumberland Public Transit works to provide reasonable accommodations and modifications. The cost of rides is determined by distance, number of stops, and county lines crossed, but can be as low as $2.00 one way.   • The Franklin Transit Authority offers a curb-to-curb paratransit is also available through Transit on Demand (TODD). TODD reservations require at least 24 hours notice and can serve most areas in the city of Franklin. The number of reservations available each day are limited and individuals with ADA-eligibility take priority for scheduled ride. Cost of rides is dependent on distance and zone.
